Getting Started

Browse the 'Shared Checklists' panel and find one close to what you want. Then click 'Duplicate this checklist' and you will have your own private copy of that checklist, already in edit mode. Add or delete groups or items, edit the text, drag them up or down to change the order, then save and return to your own list. Then click 'mark' to mark the items as done by clicking on them. The black box beside each group will show how much is done.

Checklist Types

There are a few different types of checklists in iVFR.net. Each one has its own purpose.

Default (template) checklists

These checklists are provided by iVFR.net. You can't use them directly as checklists, but you can copy them and use the copy in any way you like. Default checklists do not show and owner, but may be aircraft-specific.

General (not aircraft-specific) Checklists

These can be used with any aircraft, and with any flight plan. They show the aircraft as 'not specific to an aircraft.'

Aircraft-specific Checklists

These are only applicable to that type of aircraft. If you have a flight plan, these will only be available if that flight plan specifies that type of aircraft.

Emergency Checklists

Any checklist marked as emergency will appear in the 'Emergency' tab on the web or on your iPhone.

Checklist Phases

Each checklist applies only to one of the phases of your flight: Plan, Pre-flight, Fly, Post-flight or Syndicate. These phases are used in the Flight Planner, where you can see all relevant checklists for each phase in the "check and print" tab.

Sharing Checklists

If you mark your checklist as 'Share with others' it will appear in the 'Shared Checklists' tab with your login name beside it. Although only you can directly use your checklist, any iVFR.net member will be able to make a copy of it and edit their copy.

Aircraft

Because some checklists are limited to certain aircraft types, it makes sense to allow you to edit your aircraft on the Checklists page.

Aircraft Type

An aircraft 'type' is the original aircraft that was copied. It specifies the manufacturer and model for all copies, but all other details can be changed in copies. Some checklists are aircraft-specific, which means they only apply to the aircraft type (the original aircraft) and its copies.
